Christian Coaching?

Every situation in life and every challenge we face, calls from us a self definition big enough to meet the challenge. A grasshopper cannot face a giant! So which identity do you need to live from in order for the change you want to come to pass? The power of Christian self identity is that it isnt a self identity, it's Christ's identity infusing me with all that's good about Him. Who I am is infused with all that Christ is, so that I can say "As he is so are we in this world..." and "Christ in me the hope of glory..."

I retain my individuality but I become so much more. It's not self denying, it's self fulfilling. Just as I am made in the image of God, so the glove is made in the image of the hand. My being made in the image of God is fulfilled - as Jesus who is the perfect image of God lives in me.

For the Christian, every life question is a discipleship question as we learn to live from our identity in Christ, both dependently and powerfully. As a Christian coach I use non directive, intuitive, supportive and challenging questions to help you see clearly and make courageous transformational decisions which fulfil your potential and maximise your life opportunities.

Christian coaching is a three - way relationship between the client/disciple, coach and Holy Spirit, recognising the centrality of Christ in your life, the call of God on your life and the role of the Holy Spirit centre stage working through your life.

On the surface level, the coaching relationship provides a creative space where you are the full focus of attention, where your potential, values, dreams and goals are fully explored and where you are encouraged to adopt empowering expectations for your life.  Through deep listening and intuitive questioning, coaching facilitates greater levels of self awareness, helping you to reflect on the realities of your current situation - understanding what's working well and what could work better, within yourself and your wider context at work and life in general. You are helped to consider all the options before you, thinking creatively about what could be done differently, and set yourself specific goals and tasks to move yourself forward, addressing areas where your faith for change is weak.

But the more profound intention of coaching is transformation. It is one thing to set a goal, find a purpose and change some habits, but transformation most often comes through the embrace of a new empowered identity free from the limitations of previous mental and emotional blocks. The butterfly must let go of the chrysalis cage in order to flex its wings of freedom.

My hope is that this is how coaching with me will impact you, and, in addition, that you will have learnt some skills to be able to coach yourself and hear the leading and invitation of the Holy Spirit, as He teaches, guides, mentors and coaches you into a more fulfilled and purposeful life.
